Can i work with you if I don't have insurance or don't want to use my insurance?
Yes! Choosing to pay out of pocket for your services provides us the freedom to explore your concerns without interference from your insurance company or the need for us to "diagnose" your concerns with a mental health disorder for reimbursement. It also provides you with more control over the type of care you receive and more flexibility in the work we do together.
Another benefit of paying privately for your services is that you are empowered to choose the therapist that’s the right fit for you and your needs, not just a therapist that accepts your insurance. This is probably the most important variable to consider as you begin your healing journey.
do you accept insurance?
Yes, I am "In Network" with Medical Mutual of Ohio and Caresource Marketplace plans. If your primary behavioral health counseling benefits are covered through one of these providers, I will take care of billing your services.
It’s important to understand that in order to be eligible to bill your counseling services through your insurance company, you need to have a diagnosed mental health disorder. This applies to all therapy services. Some clients choose to pay out of pocket for their services to avoid this issue altogether.
You will be responsible for any co-pays, co-insurance or deductibles or any service fees that are not covered through your insurance provider.
If you have insurance but are not covered through Medical Mutual or Caresource, the good news is we can still work together. Many health insurance companies offer "Out of Network" or "OON" benefits to their members. This means you are required to pay for your counseling services out of pocket and then submit a document called a "Superbill" to your insurance company for reimbursement. I can provide this document to you on a monthly basis. This document will provide proof of payment for services and most insurance companies reimburse a significant portion of "OON" services. If you want to simplify the process of being reimbursed by your insurance company for any "OON" expenses, there are organizations that will do the leg work for you for a small fee. I'd be happy to provide you with referral information to these organizations, at your request.
All new clients are strongly encouraged to contact your insurance provider for details on your financial responsibility at each visit. Please note that all service fees including co-pays, co-insurance, deductibles or previous balances are due prior to the start of your scheduled services.
how long do sessions last and what are your session fees?
Sessions are typically 50 minutes but there may be times where a 50-minute visit may not provide enough time. Under these circumstances, we would discuss the benefits of scheduling a 90-minute appointment. Unfortunately, insurance companies don't reimburse for 90-minute sessions which means you would be financially responsible for these appointments. An example of a time when a 90-minute session might be useful might be while using EMDR, Hypnotherapy or periodically during couples counseling.
If you have an insurance that I work with, your insurance would be billed for your 50-minute services and you would be responsible prior to the start of each visit for any co-pay, co-insurance or deductibles due. Please contact your insurance company for details on these fees so you know your financial investment for each session.
Private Pay clients, are those who do NOT use their insurance benefits for their services. For these clients, the investment for a 50 minute initial visit is $150 and all subsequent 50 minute visits are $150.
what forms of payment do you accept?
Currently, I accept Cash, Credit Cards, HSA Cards and Personal Checks. All payments and balances are due prior to the start of your scheduled session.
What is your cancellation policy?
If for any reason your unable to attend an appointment, I ask my clients for 24 hours' notice. For any appointments cancelled or missed without at least 24 hours' notice, clients will be responsible for the full session fee.
